Extra Curricular Activities
We offer a wide range of extra curricular activities to both children and parents who would like to get involved in school life. Please explore these below. Keep a look out on the newsletter, letters home and on the school calendar to find out what is up and coming.
Fencing
Wayne Lomax teaches fencing skills to children from year 3 to 6. Keep an eye out on the school calendar to find out when he'll be in next.
Multi Sports for KS1
Premier sports offer classes learning Multi ~Sports. These fill up fast!
Netball KS2 after school
Premier Sports offer netball for all.
Gymnastics for KS 2 & Friday Football
Premier sports offer this active club for the children.
Football
Football takes place every Tuesday for year 2-6 and Wednesday for years 3-6. It is led by Graham and Scott and runs throughout the year. Keep an eye out for letters sent home.
Guitars
Guitar lessons take place every Wednesday:
Beginners at 12.15 - 12.-45pm
Middles at 12.45- 1.15pm
Advanced 1.15 - 1.45 pm
Lessons are provided by Miss Carmel Galea who has been teaching at Clayton -Le- Woods Primary School for over 25 years. Carmel teaches at other local Primary Schools and High Schools and works from home giving private lessons. Apart from teaching she plays at weddings and organises concerts with her Primary and High School pupils.
She says Clayton -Le-Woods Primary School is a very special place.
Lessons are available from year 3 upwards. We busk at Christmas and Summer Fairs and sometimes get involved with charity events, we have played at the Sue Ryder home in Cuerden valley and sung carols on Preston train station in aid of the Sue Ryder home.
Some pupils also played guitar in Balshaw's High School concert.
There is a new beginners guitar group which started in September on Wednesdays .
Letters have gone out to the present pupils in Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5.
